Jacob (Jack) Robbins (1923-)

Jacob Robbins was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and earned his degree in architecture from Harvard in 1953. Robbins' career spanned 1952-1993, and included work with Bay Area firms Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill, and John Lyon Reid and Partners. In the 1970s, he served as the City of Fremont Director of City Planning and Community Development. In 1977 he founded Robbins and Ream, Architects, together with James Ream. His designs include the Third Baptist Church Center in San Francisco, the Oakmead Terraces Office Building in Sunnyvale, and a number of homes and condominiums in the Bay Area, including his own award-winning home in the Oakland Hills.

The Jack Robbins Collection spans 1955-2007, and includes records related to Robbins' work as the Director of City Planning and Community Development for the City of Fremont, as well as drawings, specifications, photographs, and correspondence from his work on projects at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Robbins and Ream, Architects, and Jack Robbins, FAIA Architect, Urban Design, Inc.
